CONSTANTINE I MAGNVS (THE GREAT)

Reigned: 307-337 A.D.

Rome

ROMA (Rome, Italy - 41°53'N, 12°30'E) was traditionally founded by Romulus and Remus in 753 BC, although remains of settlements as early as 1,000 BC have been found. Originally a monarchy, it became a republic about 510 BC and experienced its most rapid growth from the third century BC to the time of Augustus, when the Principate was established. It peaked in the first and second centuries AD, but its decline began in the early fourth century after Constantinopolis was founded. Its mint opened about 289 BC and, except for 40-20 BC, was active until the city was lost to the barbarians in 476 .(From MONETA, from www.numus.com)
