CONSTANTINE I MAGNVS (THE GREAT)

Reigned: 307-337ad

FLAVIVS VALERIVS CONSTANTINVS was born about 272 in Moesia Superior to Constantius I and his first wife Helena. Constantine was with his father in Britain in 306 when Constantius died and he became Caesar. He became Augustus about 307, and overcame all Maximian, Maxentius, and Licinius to become the sole ruler of the Roman world in 324. He was the first Christian emperor, being converted as early as 312, but delaying his baptism until 337. He turned Byzantium into the magnificent city of Constantinople, and was buried there after dying of natural causes near Nicomedia on May 22, 337.(Excerpt from MONETA from www.numus.com)

Because I collect a lot of uncleaned, and expect that I will end up having many Late Roman Bronze (LRB) coins, the coins will be separated by mint. This is for a couple of reasons. 1.) This more closley follows the way RIC has organzied these coins, 2.) It will help me to keep the pages smaller so that those of us that are forced to use dial-up, won't grow beards waiting for the pages to load!! At some point I will probably be forced to split the mint pages up by reverse type. We'll see how many more coins my lovely wife will let me buy!! So click on the Mint to see the coins that I have from that mint.
