Delmatius
| FLAVIVS IVLIVS DELMATIVS was born in 313 or slightly before to Flavius Delmatius, the half-brother of Constantine the Great through their common father Constantius I. Delmatius was a favorite of his uncle Constantine and served as consul in 333. On September 18, 335 he was appointed Caesar and given Macedonia, Achaea, and Thrace to rule. A few months after the death of Constantine on May 22, 337, he was killed in the massacre of the male descendents of Theodora by the soldiers, who shouted that they would have no rulers but the sons of Constantine (Constantine II, Constantius II, and Constans). |
